So it looks like if I want to go on a cruise I will be cruising alone as my beloved has just announced he’s terrified of boats and couldn’t imagine anything worse than being stuck out at sea for days at a time, hrumph.
Seven years we’ve been together and that’s the first I have heard about a fear of boats or the deep sea, we’ve actually been out on a boat before – though it was only a little one that went around some islands to look at seals.
As much as I want to go on a cruise I don’t really think it’s appropriate to leave my new husband home alone and go on a singles cruise myself 
But that doesn’t mean I won’t do it in the future, I am used to travelling alone as I did it for a long time before meeting my husband. I tend to find that you socialise more and take part in more things, it’s amazing how friendly and caring people are when they see you are on your own – and it’s not even because they feel sorry for you, I think it’s just basic human nature to try and offer your company to someone when you think they might otherwise feel alone.
In my time I’ve befriended people of all ages, races, genders and everything else while travelling alone and I still skype on a weekly basis with some of the people I met while backpacking around Australia.
Honestly if you have never travelled alone out of fear or embarrassment or any thing else, give it a try – you’ll be surprised at how much fun it can be. Especially if you are single and go on a cruise especially designed for single people as the organisers usually put on events and meet and greet type sessions to get people talking
I went shopping for prom dresses with a friend yesterday, it’s been a long long time since I went looking at prom dresses – 15 years to be exact. They have not changed much though to be honest, probably a little shorter and sexier than they were back in my day but still that same classic prom dress style and bright colours. It made me reminisce about my prom
I need to go to the store at the weekend and get some stainless steel drums for the new garden, we need them before we move in and we move in on Monday – oops. Been meaning to get some for ages but with so many other things to prepare it’s hard to remember every thing isn’t it? We will definitely go on Saturday though.
I am on the look out for a good binocular site at the moment (like the pun there?) as my dad really wants a good set – he’s moving away to the seaside soon, something he’s always wanted to do, and has visions of himself sat out on the balcony overlooking a harbour with his binoculars in hand so he can see everything that’s going on around him
I was just on the phone with an agent talking about palm beach real estate. I wish it were for me as I can’t imagine anything nicer than having a property in Palm Beach to vacation at, but alas it was not, it was for a friend at work who is retiring in 2011 and wants to move out there. He asked me to help him do some research as he’s not very good at using the Internet – he types with one finger and doesn’t understand how to click on links bless him, so I usually always end up helping him out with anything Internet related as I am known in the office as the ‘Web Nerd’.
Palm Beach is absolutely stunning, I have come away from my little research session wanting to retire there myself – shame I still have another 35 years to go before I am at retirement age. I’ve never been lucky enough to visit Florida but it has always been on my list of places I’d like to visit, however it’s now been bumped up even higher on the list than it was.
Maybe my work friend will invite me a long to stay in his new place when the time comes, a little free vacation would be a fitting reward for helping him to find the place
