Did I ever tell you about the car accident my husband got into at work on Christmas Eve? He was out delivering and another car ran a red light causing him to hit into the side of him – they all got out of their cars and made sue everyone was OK and then exchanged insurance details. At the time the other guy seemed really apologetic and willing to take the responsibility – my husband was pretty shaken about it as it’s the first real crash he’s had in recent times and although no one was injured the car was a write off (thankfully it was a work car and not our own!). He was definitely glad he didn’t have to go back to work for a few days afterwards.
Of course Christmas and New Year came and went and then he got word from the insurance company – the guy who ran the red light causing the crash had changed his story and said that it was my husband who ran the light.
I said at the time they should have called the police there and then in case this guy changed his mind about doing the right thing but my husband said the guy seemed trustworthy so there was no need. So in the end my husband had to pay half and his no claims status is now gone meaning net time we need to update our insurance we’ll no doubt have to pay a little more.
We are currently looking at taking the guy to court if we can find a good no win no fee service that will get us the right result – we definitely couldn’t afford to do it on a none no win no fee basis as it’s more about the principle of it than any thing else.
